Vertical Wrapper Operator
Prerequisites for ALL skilled positions: Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

2nd Shift - 8 hour shifts (12 hour (6 PM – 6AM) shift starting January 3, 2025)

 
  • Responsible for building a well-trained team which is enthusiastic about safety, quality, efficiency, and company success.
  • Meet or exceed company expectations for production performance to maximize sales.
  • Knowledge of SQF, GMP’s, SOP’s, and HACCP, and other food process sanitation requirements.
  • Report any/all food safety or food quality issues immediately to supervision or QA.
  • Perform related duties as assigned by production lead or other leadership.
  • Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures.
  • Assist production lead with changeovers as required (including moving materials, equipment, etc.).
  • Able to lift 50 to 70 lbs. Able to work extended hours, available for overtime and weekend work as required.
  • Must efficiently and consistently communicate with Production Lead to determine what type of film/product you will be using, for machine set up that day.
  • Must ensure all information needed for proper set up of the settings/specs of the Vertical Wrapper is obtained before setting up for the product being ran.
  • Ensure the Vertical Wrappers’ settings have been set accurately with the appropriate specifications (Ex. Film Size, Tube Size, Etc.) for the specific product being ran that day.
  • Ensure that at the beginning of each week during set up that the weigher buckets are properly set and ready for the rest of the week. The buckets must be checked periodically and reset at the beginning of each week.
  • Adjust film tension as needed to improve performance.
  • Maintain production on the line, troubleshoot and correct issues on the line as quickly as possible to maintain production.
  • Continuously inspect wrapper for issues with line, safety concerns, mechanical issues and notifies supervisor if there is a problem.
  • Perform related duties as assigned by management.
  • Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures.
  • Provide emergency/unscheduled and scheduled repairs on production equipment during production and during scheduled downtime.
  • Perform regular preventive maintenance on machines, equipment, and plant facilities.
  • Use a variety of hand and power tools, electric meters, and material handling equipment in performing duties.
  • Maintaining the operation of—and troubleshooting—baking machinery and equipment
  • Working with Production Technicians and Line Supervisors to meet production deadlines by keeping equipment operating
  • Recommending improvement in maintenance and operational procedures
  • Properly utilize labor resources to improve efficiency, minimize labor expense and reduce waste.
  • Rework all product as needed, do not waste product.
  • Notify production lead of any waste issues and/or machine malfunctions.
  • Clean up line continuously throughout shift.
  • Able to work extended hours, available for overtime and weekend work as required.
  • Ability to troubleshoot any issues in the mixing operation.

  • As a team member of the U.S. Waffle team, you have the responsibility to address any known food safety or quality issue.
  • Report all food safety or food quality issues to QA and Shift Supervision.
  • Implement actions needed to prevent food safety and food quality issues.
  • Meet or exceed expectations of strict adherence to Quality Standards
  • Coordinate with QA to ensure company quality SOPs are adhered to.
  • Demonstrate behaviors of a quality conscious culture.
  • Ensure training is completed for your role and the roles of all team members in relationships to process and quality.
  • Ensure customer specifications are being met through evaluation and immediate reaction.
  • Develop a culture of quality within the scope of their role.
  • Monitor and ensure that all GMP’s, SOP’s, and HACCP are always met.
  • Ensure production floor is SQF ready EVERYDAY.
  • Follow all safety and OSHA policies and report any issues or violations immediately to a supervisor.
  • Safety is first within our organization. Quality is the second most important aspect of your role.
  • Prevent cross-contamination by following all policies and procedures.

    Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:
    • Must be willing to work weekends when needed.
    • Basic Math skills
    Physical and Safety Requirements:
    • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
    • Complies with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s) and all other food safety requirements.
    • Complies with Personal Protective Equipment (PPE’s) requirements.
    • Reports any food safety problems or potentially unsafe practices/conditions to lead or supervisor.
    • Constant walking and standing on hard concrete service.
    • Frequent bending, stooping, squatting, pushing, lifting, and climbing.
    • Position will require working in extremely hot and cold conditions.
    • Other conditions include flour dust, wet floors, occasional smoke, and fumes if product burns.
